UWC Chess Challenge is a FIDE-rated annual chess tournament jointly presented by UWCSEA Dover and Chess Grande, bringing together school-aged players from multiple countries in a single, high-standard competitive setting.

Built around the principles of structured tournament play, disciplined thinking, and classical decision-making, the event offers a serious environment where every game carries real competitive significance. All games are FIDE-rated, ensuring that results meaningfully contribute to a player's long-term chess development.

Hosted at UWCSEA Dover, the UWC Chess Challenge reflects a shared commitment by UWC and Chess Grande to excellence in education, sportsmanship, and international engagement. The tournament is envisioned as a long-term fixture on the school chess calendar, one that players return to each year as a marker of progress and competitive maturity.

Merit U7: all U7 participants who do not receive a trophy receive a merit prize.

Parent Access & Lunch

Parents

A waiting area is reserved for parents during the competition. Each participant is entitled to one parent or guardian in the school to accompany the participant.

Food

  1. Each participant receives one food bento for lunch. Guardians and spectators will not be provided with food.
  2. All food provided will be halal and peanut-free.
  3. Participants may choose either vegetarian or non-vegetarian.
  4. No further food accommodations will be provided beyond these two options. Please bring your own food for additional dietary accommodations or stricter dietary restrictions.

Disclaimer

  • Once maximum capacity is reached, the organizers may close registration early, even before the deadline.
  • The organisers reserve the right to reject any entries without providing a reason.
  • The organisers may accept additional entries submitted after the registration deadline.
  • The organisers reserve the right to adjust the schedule of the coming rounds.
  • There can be no refunds after payment has been made.
  • If not enough participation is met, the organisers are free to cancel the event.

FIDE ID Responsibility

Participants are solely responsible for ensuring that the FIDE ID submitted during registration is accurate and belongs to the player being registered.

Any participant found to have provided an incorrect, invalid, duplicate, or another player's FIDE ID may be refused entry into the event, removed from the pairing list, or have their results excluded from FIDE rating submission.

No refunds, credits, transfers, or compensation will be provided in cases where an incorrect FIDE ID has been submitted by the participant or parent/guardian.

PDPA Notice

By registering your child for the event, you give full consent to the organizers to collect, use, and disclose your and your child's personal data, including photos and videos taken during the event, for event administration, publicity, and future promotions in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

Chess Grande Students

All Chess Grande students receive a 10% registration discount.

A Chess Grande student is someone currently enrolled in Chess Grande camps, courses, or private classes.
