Building your own Opening Repertoire

This workshop helps young chess players create a simple, personal opening repertoire they understand and can use confidently in games. Instead of just memorizing moves, kids will learn the key ideas behind their openings, how to pick lines that match their style, and how to handle surprises from opponents. They will build their own opening “map” to guide them through the early part of the game, so they feel prepared and stay consistent.

By the end of the workshop, students will know what they are playing, why they are playing it, and how to keep improving their openings over time.

Who is this for?
This workshop is for young chess players who already know the rules and basic tactics but feel lost or unsure in the opening phase of their games. It’s ideal for kids who keep switching openings, rely on memorizing random moves, or struggle when their opponents play something unexpected.

The workshop is designed for students who want to build a simple, reliable opening system that fits their style and helps them play with more confidence and understanding. It is not for total beginners still learning how the pieces move, nor for advanced players looking for deep or highly specialized opening theory.
