Grade 5

Grade 5 is where tactical understanding meets structured thinking. Students at this stage already have a strong foundation and now begin learning how to turn small advantages into long-term plans.

  • Positional Play: Learning how to control key squares, manage pawn structures, and activate pieces effectively.
  • Intermediate Endgames: Rook vs pawn, opposition, and king activity become central themes.
  • Consistency & Accuracy: Reducing blunders, identifying candidate moves, and playing with intention.
  • Planning: Introducing basic planning tools (minority attack, open files, weak squares) and integrating them into their games.
