Tournament details
This event accepts players born in 2014 or later, including players who are already 12. Individual entrants pay S$50 and Chess Grande will group them into teams of four. Complete teams pay S$170, must provide a team name, and enter four players in board order. All four players must be present for the full tournament. The captain plays on board 1. The event is not FIDE-rated; enter an existing FIDE or federation ID and rating, or NIL where none exists.

System of play
The tournament is a six-round, non-FIDE-rated Swiss team event played under the FIDE Laws of Chess.
- The team with the highest number of match points will be declared the winner.
- Ties in the final standings are resolved in this order: game points; the result between the teams involved; then the sum of the game points scored by all of the team’s opponents.
- The time control is 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment from move one.
- Default time is when a player’s clock reaches zero.
- A FIDE ID is not required. Players who have a FIDE or federation ID and rating must declare them; otherwise enter NIL.
Four boards
Team format and roster
Every complete team has four players in fixed board order. Chess Grande will form teams of four from individual entries.
- All four players must be present for the entire tournament.
- Board 1 is the team captain.
- For complete-team entries, registered players cannot be changed or removed and the submitted board order cannot be changed after registration.
- Individual entrants receive their assigned team and board separately after payment and eligibility review.
- The captain remains in the playing area until all four team games are complete and is responsible for supervising the team.

Registration is open to the public and is accepted through the online form and payment flow on this page.
- Individual entry is S$50 for one player; complete-team entry is S$170 for four players. Processing fees are shown before payment where applicable.
- The event is limited to 56 player places, equivalent to 14 complete teams, and registration may close as soon as capacity is reached.
- Registration closes on 31 August 2026 at 23:59 Singapore time unless it closes earlier.
- After payment, Chess Grande will review complete-team rosters. Individual players will receive their team and board assignment separately.
- We aim to send any registration or assignment update within 48 hours where possible.
- The organiser may accept or reject an entry without assigning a reason, accept additional or late entries, or exceed the stated capacity when venue and event conditions permit.
Captain procedure
Results and walkovers
Both captains are responsible for checking and submitting the official match result.
- After the match, both team captains must submit the duly signed result slip to the arbiter’s desk.
- Any walkover must be recorded on the result slip.
- A team conceding a walkover will not be paired for the next round unless the Chief Arbiter approves its reinstatement for later rounds.
- Results recorded on a submitted slip stand after submission.
Playing hall
Player conduct and electronic devices
Players must follow the FIDE Laws of Chess, these regulations, and all arbiter instructions.
- Smoking is prohibited throughout the venue and building.
- During a game, players may speak only to the arbiter or their opponent as permitted by the Laws of Chess; speaking with other players or spectators is not allowed.
- After recording their result, a player who has finished becomes a spectator and must leave the playing area, except for the team captain waiting for the remaining team games. A breach may result in disqualification without a replacement for the team.
- Do not bring mobile phones, smartwatches, playback or recording equipment, or other electronic devices into the playing area. Random checks may be conducted before or after games.
- If a device must be brought in, it must be switched off and stored in a bag below the player’s desk. A player without a bag may place it face down on the desk only with an arbiter’s prior permission.
- A device that is seen, felt, heard, rings, or makes a sound during play will result in an immediate loss or forfeit without appeal.
- The Chief Arbiter’s decisions are final.
Important event information
Schedule changes and organiser discretion
Chess Grande may make changes when needed for a safe, comfortable and fair tournament, or because of traffic, parking or venue limits.
- The organiser may amend the published schedule or the timing of later rounds.
- The organiser may amend the tournament regulations with immediate effect and will communicate material changes where practicable.
- Registration may close before the deadline when capacity is reached.
- The organiser may cancel the event if there is insufficient participation or if circumstances make the event impracticable.
- Only registered players may enter the tournament area because spectator space is unavailable.
- Accessibility arrangements may be requested by email before the event.

Parent information
Only registered players may enter the tournament area because there is no spectator space. Parents and accompanying guests are encouraged to use nearby cafés, restaurants, or shopping areas while waiting. A tea break is scheduled at 13:00; participants should make their own meal arrangements.
